CONDÉ NAST SIGNS TV DEAL, TWO NEW SHOWS ANNOUNCED

Two familiar Condé Nast brands will soon make the transition from print to the small screen. Vanity Fair and Vogue have both signed deals with Discovery Communications to launch two new shows, The Wall Street Journal reports.

A series of Vanity Fair articles inspired Confidential, a new crime and mystery show to air on the Investigation Discovery channel. Meanwhile, Fashion Fund based on a Vogue design contest will premiere on Ovation channel.

The integrity of the adaptation is under scrutiny since the two deals are rumored to be more favorable to the company than to its writers. While Dawn Ostroff, head of Condé Nast Entertainment, claims that the writers of the articles–to which each show owes its existence–get a “fair market value” for the work. However, newer contracts do not give out as much in royalties as older contracts once did when articles were adapted for screen.
