INTRODUCING THE ORIGAMI: A PRINTER OF RECYCLED PAPER

While recycling the many reams of paper and printing equipment used in offices everyday has been at the forefront of company cultures, Samsung Electronics goes one step further in sustainable printing techniques. The company combines both ideas by innovating a printer that is actually made of 100% recycled paper, with a focus on simplifying complex structures usually associated with building printers.

The cardboard printer–called The Origami–is a mono laser printer whose unique exterior actually offers the same durability as a plastic cover since folding cardboard inherently makes it stronger.

The printer won a Gold rating in the annual Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2013 competition.
