THE ENVIRONMENT

Artwork Variations
Did you know that most paper is recycled not in the US but overseas, in China?

Instead of heading for your local recycling plant, most paper in the US is put onto a ship and sent to China to be turned into pulp for the mills here. Since we don’t have any control over what types of chemicals are used in this process, we can’t help but think this method probably isn’t the most environmentally sound…not to mention the massive amounts of energy expended in moving all that material around!

Instead of using paper that is simply 100% recycled, Paper Chase Press uses only FSC Certified paper stocks. These papers are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, an independent, non-profit that promotes responsible forest management. The materials that make up FSC Certified papers are a combination of recycled, mixed-source (like bamboo and cotton), and responsibly harvested raw materials. As of this month, over 35 million acres of forest are certified in the US by the Council. Using these papers means supporting the environment as well as our local economy.
